I'm getting more and more issues with displacement as time goes on, especially with stairs and ramps.
I've had countless times where I've ran up/down a staircase to be warped back a few feet to where i was before. Also, when I run past a mob I often get a few feet past them then warp right in front of them again which really hurts the eyes. Its like my client and the servers are disagreeing on where my character actually is.
Anybody else experiencing this?
As for lag, I haven't seen much lately except for the occasional moment where all the monsters just stop then i 'wake' up dead.

Coincidence perhaps, but performance has degraded for me since Anet moved into NCSoft's hosting center. It's not like lag spikes are happening all the time. It's the fact that I'm getting *any*, as I really never did, and when they come, they come in droves.
The only other time I've error 7'd out of a match was while playing on a cheap hotel connection several months ago. It's not only me, either. Members of my guild at the time and opponent guilds have had the same issues. I've been hit by opponents that weren't even there, but WALKED UP TO ME five seconds later. Very strange, and extremely difficult to defend against.
Time periods where lag has been bad are 10 PM ET through about 1 AM ET. I'm located on the east coast, US.

I get the occasional lag in a quest/mission, but where the real lag comes is when I'm in a crowded district...arrrgghh! Then to top that off if I try to open multiple windows (ex. inventory, heros window...etc) then it really lags soooooo bad. I don't believe that I have ISP issues as I've recently switched to Verizon FIOS and its really smooth. I do have an old janky computer though that may be a possible source of problems.

There's been no lag for me. FYI, I'm on European servers, if that may have anything to do with it.

I think with respect to Anet and their game alot of the lag that can be experienced can be due to many sources, some Anet may have a degree of control over and others are completly environmental i.e. world events and what not.

every time GW is getting ready to release new content, lag takes place. Even in pvp. Here are some things you can do to minimize lag:so stop whining about it and let things be. Arenanet knows about their lag problems already.

Thats pretty much what we did last night.
We sat in GH and talked about Minoriteam and Venture Bros and the upcoming Animaniacs/Pinky And the Brain dvds instead of questing/missions.
Doing nothing ftw! XD (Its funny when someone brings up something GW related and thats off topic )
When I did AB, it was lagtastic (and it was my whole guild experiencing it too).

Lag is not always Anet's problem. I rarely ever lag and I play alot. There is a guildie who ALWAYS gets lag at the first fight after zoning into a mission or quest. It drivers her nuts and she swears at Anet/GW but it's NOT them. I'm always there with her in the same fight and I dont' get that lag.
Maybe your internet sucks? Maybe your machine can't handle the game with resolutions turned up high. (please don't start posting pc specs, we really don't care) Every game I've ever played, whether it be on pc, playstation, or xbox, people always complain about lag.
The game DOESN'T lag for everyone. If Anet were the source of the lag, everyone would get it.

Well, this is a surprise. For the past month or so, I have not been getting any lag. Infact, GW has been running smooth ever since I got more memory for my PC. I also would like to say that the people I play with do not lag. They get choppiness once in a while, but it isn't lag. Anyway, good luck to those of you who are lagging.

This is exactly what has been happening to me for the past week or so. I've been in contact with tech support, done all they told me to do, and the issue is not resolved. However, they do know (in my case) what the issue is. I can't connect to one of their servers using ports 6112, 80, but I can connect to all other servers with those ports. So it seems weird... Tried doing this with firewall software installed, and without, the results are the same. If you haven't already, try getting the netinfotool from their ftp, run it, and see if anything is blocked in the "Port Tests" section (a log is generated after you run the program).

I was getting some bad lag yesterday too. I err7'ed twice, once while just standing in my guild hall. The second time I disconnected I got an err 58 while trying to log back in. Something about being unable to connect to any login servers. I know my internet was working fine, because I was reading a thread on this site at the time and was able to load pages normally. I've had GW for about 8 months now and had only gotten an err7 one other time. Others in my guild and our alliance were getting the same problems.

Yes, I agree with you that ANet (as developer of the game) is NOT a main source of lag.
BUT people here live in different regions of the world and they are connecting to different servers - these servers are not ANet's ones directly. I think that not all servers are the same quality.. AND ANet should tell its partners to get better hard/software to run these servers OR change partners to these with better hard/software.

i have 2 accounts, one on european and one on american homeservers. but no lag on either of them. i played my new ritualist for around 100 hours in the last month, and still at 0 deaths, no disconnects, no skips, no getting stuck on stairs. either i'm very lucky or its not a problem with the guildwars servers.
i did have trouble connecting sometimes or got disconnected while afk farming during the dragon festival. but once i'm in the game and playing, no problems.

I just switched from Comcast cable broadband to FiOS (verizon fiber),
cheaper and faster, I was getting err-7's almost everyday, when the
install contractors were here, I told him of my cable woes and he said
when it heats up it raises the resistance of the cable and the voltage
levels drop and this causes the drops.
Have not had one drop in 3 weeks of fiber service so far, the down/upload
speed is very stable to, I have the 15m down and 5m up package, and it
tests out at 14.8m and 1.85m everytime.

we should have a slight say on how many packets and how big they are to be sent from the client side.
like in counter-strike...
